Making homemade cat toys - would this work?

I am making homemade cat toys and I am putting catnip on them. But in order to get it to stick I need to put something on it, and I was thinking honey. Would that work, and would it be non-harmful for cats? Of course I would get it to them once the honey is dry. Please let me know, thanks!

I agree with the last two answerer's. Honey will get stuck in the cat's fur and it is a real pain to get out, for you and your cat. I recommend getting a sock or a piece of cloth and put catnip in that. Then tape or tie it closed. If you want your cats to have an even more enjoyable time, add a scrunched-up piece of paper inside the cloth or sock, along with the catnip, so when your cat plays with the toy, it makes crunching sounds, and your kitty will go craaaazy! And then if you want, spray the outside of the toy with that cat nip smelling spray, but you don't have to.
