Or are there any additives I could use to reduce odor in my sons mouse cage?

ceder shavings is the best for they will take care of any mites that may be on the pet and there is lots of fine sawdust to pick up the water

- CareFresh Ultra is probably your best bet. It's fairly pricey, but a mouse shouldn't use very much.
Whatever you do, avoid Cedar and Pine beddings, which are high in aromatic oils that cause all sorts of issues and often kill small critters.
Also, aquarium or other enclosed cages restrict air flow and get smelly far more quickly than bar cages, so if that's what you have, you might consider a switch.

Experience.25% 1 Vote - If you are in the UK Carefresh. It can be quite pricy at 60L for £16ish, but it lasts ages and you only need to change it every 2/3 weeks. I use it for 3 ferrets and you smell nothing for the first 2 weeks.
Another alternative is Finacard (UK again) which is cut-up cardboard. It absorbs ammonia, so again, no smell, but needs changing weekly. Its a much cheaper option at £14 for a huge bale of it (delivered)Source(s):
0% 0 Votes - Use whatever bedding you want, and add baking soda in the bottom of the cage. It naturally removes odors. It's really cheap too.
