Show me another »Is it ok to let a cat and dog drink from the same water dish?
My cat and dog share a water dish and I wanted to know if anyone knows if there are risks in doing so.
Additional Details
My dog is 3 lbs and is very very timid. (Chihuahua) I don't think aggression is an issue. Thanks all!

Mine share too. I'm not even gonna worry about it 'cause I caught them licking each other's tongues yesterday.

- Not necesserly...I would buy them there own though, because in the future, they might start getting aggressive over the bowl. Hope this helps.

Vet degree - yep. as long as they arent sick you dont want the transfering germs.

- This is no problem at all, although you may want to get them each a dish to place in different areas of the house. We have both a beagle and a cat, and their dishes are in separate rooms. However, the dog prefers the cat's water dish and the cat prefers the dog's. (But both of them drink some from both dishes.)

- Its fine, my dog and cat drink from the same water dish now and then, alsong as they both stay healthy ( which they probably are ) they will be fine.
- My cats and dogs us the same water dish and nuthing bad ever happens
- mine share...hasnt been an issue.
- Our animals (2 dogs, 2 cats) all share a big water bowl (it refills itself, about 2 gallon jug). Doesn't bother them, they will even drink at the same time.
