Runt cat - will her fur grow back?

We have a runt kitten (she's 11 months old now) who has had multiple health problems. One of her problems is the loss of a lot of her fur, so she is frequently cold. Winter is coming up and I need to consider buying a heated pet bed for her. Has anybody else had a runt cat? Does the fur ever regrow? I always forget to ask the vet, since we have so much other health stuff to cover when I bring the kitten. Oh, and kitten is now 5.5 pounds and unlikely to get past 6 pounds ever.

I adopted a kitten last spring who was in very bad shape. He had a severe case of ear mites which caused him to actually scratch the fur out from around his neck. I got him meds and fed him well. The hair is almost all grown in now and he's gorgeous. Call you vet and ask whatever you'd like to know.

If you can get her healthy it will. I have one we found in the yard that was starved and within hours of death. She is now 9 years old and beautiful. Being that yours is a runt, are you feeding her kitten chow, I would keep her on that for the added vitamins and maybe supplement with Nutri-cal.

Since you are having a lot of health issues I would recommend getting the book The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care by C J Puotinen. I don't use everything in the book, since I have taken in 17 cats it isn't possible for me to do, but I supplement their diet with the raw food diet on a regular basis. Since I started doing this my vet bills have become almost non-existent. The book has a lot of good suggestions, and the more of it you use the better the health of your animals. I've found this to be true.

I would call my vet and ask. Maybe consider getting her a little sweater or something.
    Aren't they the neatest pets?
