Cat Food Allergies - How To Check Your Cat For Allergies And Successfully Treat Them
It is difficult to tell if you are giving your cat the wrong type of food or not. According to the latest studies and reports, cat food allergies are quite common these days. This is often due to the types of cat food available which contain many ingredients, often of poor quality that you would reject in your own diet. Typically, these products will contain lots of beef offcuts but also fish and dairy products have been found to make cats sick and activate cat food allergies. As your cat usually cannot communicate to you which foods are making him or her sick, the only alternative is for you to be vigilant and observe the animal's behaviour closely. By being very alert to your cat's welfare, you can take appropriate action and even save your pet's life due to the worst of cat food allergies. The Tell-tale Clues Of Cat Food Allergies
Cat food allergies are normally identified when you see various visible symptoms such as your cat's skin flaking or drying out. If you notice more flaking than usual or your cat often scratching its skin, then you should investigate why as this may be due to cat food allergies. Scientists reckon that there are a few specific ingredients in cat food that can cause mass hair loss or moulting in cats. Because there are so many ingredients in cat food and it can be hard to nail down the offending food, it is better to change cat food and see if there is an improvement. Just switching a brand can often help. Cat food allergies can also manifest themselves in loss of appetite for your cat or other digestive problems. If your cat turns his nose up at a certain food, then it is best to try something different. Also, observe your cat's toilet habits. Usually a cat will defecate once every day, probably in the morning, or perhaps twice a day. If, suddenly, your cat has especially soft stools or different frequency in toilet habits, this may coincide with a change in diet and introduction of cat food allergies. If so, restore the original diet for a while before trying something different. Remember, if in doubt, take your cat to the vet for solid medical advice.

Cats and their allergies. ? (Answers: 5) (Comments: 0)
We just adopted a very sweet 6 year old fixed male. His previous owners informed us that he has food allergies and has had reactions to shots. He's on a special diet of dry food. Our current cat eats wet food and he's a this morning they actually ate together with minimal hissing. but the male wanted the wet food.
I'm just wondering if people with more experience can tell me more about cat food allergies. What are they allergic to specifically in the food? are their any brands of cat food available for cats with food allergies or is it only vet brands? Are their wet food options? If he accidental eats the other cats dinner should I be ready for an emergency run to the vet?
Can he still enjoy meat as treats? Should I switch both cats to the same diet?

FOOD ALLERGY:Cat food allergy; cat food holistic quality: cat hair loss sojo cooking ; so jo food ;? (Answers: 4) (Comments: 0)
Hello! In February I switched my cat from Innova hard kibble to wet food (per request of the vet). Keeni had a problem with constipation so we switched her food and got her a fountain. She LOVES the water fountain......the canned food, not so much. After going through the shelves at the pet food store, (she's incredibly picky and wouldn't eat the Innova wet food), I finally found one that she seemed to like. She's now on Wellness, but doesn't seem all that committed to it. LOL My problem is that she eats very sporadically and I'm worried about her nutrition. Some day's she'll eat a whole can (5.5oz) and other days it's about half. I haven't noticed any pattern as to when she cleans her dish or not. She's acting normally, and still has lots of energy to play, but she's lost hair on the back of both legs and the bare spot on her belly is getting larger. Do you think it could be a food allergy or lack of nutrients? She'll be 14 yrs in October and hasn't had any health issues at all, so this is stumping me!
Also, I was thinking of trying the Nuvet supplements you've suggested to other pet owners. Do you think adding that would clear up the issue of hair loss/nutritional worries?
